MARCUS WALDER | ACCOUNT DIRECTOR (UK)
St Albans, Hertfordshire
How long have you worked for Modality Systems?
I joined on my 40th birthday five and a half years ago. I was employee number 38. We've got over 200 people now!
What attracted you to the company?
To be honest, I used to work for a large multinational and we lost some business to Modality Systems so I was aware of this small organisation that somehow had an incredible reach and capability.
What was your first day like?
Our offices were quite small and very informal. I remember meeting a lot of people who were younger and cleverer than me.
What does working here mean to you?
It makes me very proud to be working for an organisation that is absolutely at the top of its game. I feel extremely fortunate to be able to converse with some of the world's largest organisations, knowing our teams can add huge value to them.
How would you describe what you do?
I spend my time in conversations with clients in the financial services sector trying to understand the challenges they face in relation to their workplace modernisation programmes, specifically focussing on digital teamwork. Then with colleagues from our presales or consultancy community, we give them guidance on how to solve those challenges with solutions, what works, what doesn’t work, best practice and so on. That normally leads to a scoping discussion in relation to some of Modality Systems' solutions. Contributing to the business' growth targets normally results from those activities.
Describe Modality Systems in one word (or sentence):
Inimitable - glad I got that Thesaurus for Christmas.
What's the best part of your job?
Having a laugh with colleagues.
Describe a typical day:
There isn't really a typical day. Face to face meetings In London / working from home / in Microsoft Teams meetings / drafting documents / a day in the office / Modality Systems weekly football etc.
If you could have one super power, what would it be?
I'd like to be considerably better at football. That's not really a superpower is it?
What's your favourite food?
I keep going on about this but peanut butter and marmite on toast. Controversial.
If you could be an animal, what would you be and why?
A dolphin. Because of the swimming and jumping and what not.
