UC Expo is Europe’s largest dedicated Unified Communications & Collaboration event. For Modality Systems, this event provided a great opportunity to demonstrate our expertise across multiple vertical markets where Modality’s software & apps are used as part of everyday business processes and are proven to add value through better interactions and increased productivity.

In its twelfth year, the show was held at Olympia, London from 19 to 20 April. The show has grown year-on-year, both in terms of visitor numbers and the size and scale of the exhibitors present. This year, the show attracted 5,496 visitors over the two days.

With a growing emphasis on collaboration in the workplace, and new technologies emerging to make business systems and processes more efficient there has never been a better time to be in our fast-evolving unified communications industry.

Modality_team_on_UC_Expo_stand.jpgAs a Microsoft Gold Communications partner, we were honoured to be asked to support the Microsoft Modern Workplace experience at the show. Our booth on the Microsoft Modern Workplace stand provided Modality Systems with an ample opportunity to not only showcase our specialist software, services and apps built on the Microsoft Skype for Business platform, but allowed our team of industry experts to demonstrate the unique combination of technical know-how, industry insights and software development pedigree.

The growing appetite for collaboration-enhancing technologies demonstrated at the show across a diverse range of industries meant Modality was well placed to engage with a number of the industry’s leading players looking for the latest technology for improving efficiency and productivity in the workplace. Optimising business efficiencies, attracting & retaining talent and contributing to the bottom line are key drivers amongst businesses. Unified communications and collaboration is a key priority on the agenda for many businesses, and we are seeing a shift in conversations from traditionally being the domain of the IT departments, to now encompassing wider business stakeholders.

The theme of this year’s show matched perfectly with Modality Systems proposition. Specialising in in collaboration with an emphasis on Microsoft technology and offering a complete end-to-end service wrap for business Communications and Collaboration, our Skype for Business extensibility ideas are based around a suite of software & apps designed to help clients streamline business processes and enhance the value of their investment.  

During the two-days, we held on stand demonstrations of just some of the capabilities our development team can offer, including:

  • Custom Invite - allows the business to personalise the Outlook Skype for Business meeting invite
  • AlertME - a presence driven corporate announcement application
  • SuperToast - an innovative software add-on specifically designed to notify users of any missed instant messages, audio and video calls
  • AUTO ASSIST - simplifies remote access by automating the desktop sharing process
  • TimePrompt - a customisable software application for time and expense management
  • Service Diagnostics Management Portal - combining live performance information with the power of Business Intelligence (BI).

Principal Solutions Architect from Modality IMG_2341.jpgSystems, Tom Arbuthnot presented on the Microsoft stage during the first day of the show. Tom’s presentation: “Skype for Business Cloud PBX – the right deployment model for you” focused on the Skype for Business deployment models, from 100% cloud, to hybrid to 100% on premise, what features are available in each model and how to understand what business and service factors will influence your deployment decisions.
